In October this year, Turkey's iron ore imports totaled 727,793 mt, down 10.6 percent month on month and falling by 5.85 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, according to the statistics provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports increased by 8.9 percent to $74.24 million compared to the previous month and was up 43 percent year on year.
In the first ten months of the current year, Turkey's iron ore imports amounted to 8.95 million mt, up 5.5 percent, while the value of these imports increased by 51.5 percent to $840 million, both year on year.
In the given period, Turkey's iron ore imports from Brazil stood at 3,600,695 mt, down 14.74 percent year on year. Brazil was followed by Sweden which supplied 1,653,326 mt, while Turkey's iron ore imports from Russia in the given period amounted to 1,197,044 mt.
