In June this year, Turkey's iron ore imports totaled 756,707 mt, down 17.96 percent month on month and falling by 9.1 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, according to the statistics provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports decreased by 20.5 percent to $79.67 million compared to the previous month and was up 30.35 percent year on year.
In the first six months of the current year, Turkey's iron ore imports amounted to 5.62 million mt, up 5.44 percent, while the value of these imports increased by 58 percent to $540.47 million, both year on year.
In the given period, Turkey's iron ore imports from Brazil stood at 2,137,900 mt, down 18.75 percent year on year. Brazil was followed by Sweden which supplied 993,183 mt, while Turkey's iron ore imports from Ukraine in the given period amounted to 681,471 mt.
