In March this year, Turkey's total hot rolled coil (HRC) imports increased by 8.17 percent month on month to 363,513 metric tons, up 16.52 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). These imports had a value of $109.05 million, increasing by 5.84 percent compared to February and down 29.27 percent year on year.
In the first three months of the current year, Turkey's HRC imports amounted to 1.13 million mt, rising by 34.3 percent, while the value from these imports decreased by 22 percent to $341.85 million, both compared to the same period of the previous year.
In the January-March period of this year, Russia ranked first among Turkey's HRC import sources, with its HRC exports to Turkey amounting to 444,334 mt, up 90.82 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, followed by the UK which shipped 139,732 mt of HRC to Turkey in the given period.
