In February this year, Turkey's total hot rolled coil (HRC) exports decreased by 35.11 percent year on year to 117,727 metric tons, while increasing by 36.97 percent compared to the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). These exports had a value of $69.93 million, decreasing by 37.76 percent year on year and up by 39.10 percent compared to January.
Meanwhile, in the first two months of this year, Turkey's HRC exports decreased by 31.44 percent to 202,496 mt, while the value of these exports fell 31.46 percent to $118.94 million, both on year-on-year basis.
In the first two months, Turkey's HRC exports to the US amounted to 36,452 mt, up 89.38 percent year on year, with the US ranking first among Turkey's HRC export destinations. In the given period, Turkey's HRC exports to Italy, which was Turkey's largest HRC export destination in 2013, decreased by 76.57 percent year on year to 34,451 mt. However Italy was Turkey's top HRC export destination in February this year.
