Turkey’s hot rolled flat steel exports continue to fall in August

According to the statistics provided by the Istanbul Mineral and Metals Exporters' Association (IMMIB), in August this year Turkey's total hot rolled flat steel exports amounted to 108,296 metric tons, climbing by 97.4 percent year on year but down 40.9 percent compared to July this year. Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports totaled $84.5 million, rising by 128.6 percent compared to August 2010 and decreasing 39.1 percent from July.
 
In the January-August period, Turkey's total hot rolled flat steel exports amounted to 1.4 million metric tons, climbing by 241 percent compared to the January-August period of 2010.
 
On the other hand, in the given month, Turkey's cold rolled flat steel exports stood at 5,597 metric tons, decreasing by 65.8 percent year on year and down 61.1 percent compared to July this year, while the total revenue of these exports amounted to $5.66 million, decreasing by 55.7 percent as compared to August 2010 and down 57.7 percent compared to the previous month.
 
Meanwhile, in the first eight months of the year Turkey's cold rolled flat steel exports stood at 88,135 metric tons, decreasing by 10.8 percent compared to the same period last year.
