According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in May this year Turkey's flat steel imports, including hot rolled, cold rolled, coated and narrow strip steel, fell by 20.5 percent compared to the previous month and were down 9.5 percent compared to May 2012, totaling 457,270 metric tons. The value of these imports amounted to $317 million, decreasing by 19.2 percent from April and down 16.1 percent year on year.
In the first five months of the year, Turkey's flat steel imports amounted to 2.56 million metric tons, increasing 29.1 percent year on year.
