Turkey’s finished steel output rises in Jan-Feb, consumption falls

In the January-February period of this year, finished steel output in Turkey increased by 2.9 percent year on year to 6.1 million mt, according to the Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TCUD). 
 
As stated in the TCUD report, in the first two months of this year Turkey's long product output totaled 3.9 million mt, declining by 6.6 percent, and its flat product output grew by 26.1 percent to 2.14 million mt, both on year-on-year basis. 
                                            
Finished steel consumption in Turkey in the January-February period this year fell by 7.7 percent to 5.11 million mt compared to the same period last year. In the given period, 43 percent of total finished steel consumption was for long products, while 57 percent was accounted for by flat products.
 
In the first two months of this year, Turkish consumption of long products fell by 17 percent to 2.19 million mt, while consumption of flat steel products increased by 0.9 percent to 2.91 million mt, both year on year.
