Turkey’s finished steel output and consumption decline in 2019

In 2019, finished steel output in Turkey decreased by 12.7 percent year on year to 33.68 million mt, according to the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (TCUD).

As stated in the TCUD report, in the given period Turkey's long product output totaled 20.24 million mt, down 18.2 percent, and its flat product output fell by 3.6 percent to 13.44 million mt, both on year-on-year basis.

In 2019, finished steel consumption in Turkey decreased by 15.4 percent to 26 million mt compared to the previous year.

In 2019, consumption of long products in Turkey fell by 29.7 percent to 10.82 million mt, while flat product consumption was down by one percent to 15.18 million mt, both year on year. In the given period, 41.6 percent of total finished steel consumption was for long products, while 58.4 percent was accounted for by flat products.
