Turkey’s finished steel output and consumption up in January-August

In the January-August period of this year, finished steel output in Turkey increased by two percent year on year to 25 million mt, according to the Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TCUD). 
 
As stated in the report, in the first eight months of this year Turkey's long product output totaled 18 million mt, up 2.7 percent, and its flat product output grew by 0.4 percent to 7.1 million mt, both on year-on-year basis. 
                                            
Finished steel consumption in Turkey in the January-August period this year rose by 3.9 percent to 23.6 million mt compared to the same period last year, but was slower than the growth rate of 5.2 percent registered in the January-July period of the current year.
 
In the first eight months of the current year, consumption of long products rose by 4.8 percent to 12.12 million mt, consumption of flat steel products of the country rose by three percent to 11.5 million mt. In the mentioned period, 51.4 percent of total finished steel consumption was for long products.
