According to the foreign trade indices for July released by Turkish Statistical Institute (TUİK), based on provisional foreign trade data, the export unit value index for the mining of metal ores in Turkey decreased by 33.62 percent to 135.2 points in the month in question, while the export unit value index for the manufacture of basic metals declined by 18.51 percent to 131.6 points, both compared to July 2008 (2003 = 100).
Meanwhile, in July the import unit value index for the mining of metal ores declined by 48.24 percent to 203.8 points, while the import unit value index for the manufacture of basic metals decreased by 3.06 percent to 148.7 points, both compared to the same month of the previous year.
In the month in question, the export volume index for the mining of metal ores increased by 13.86 percent to 326.9 points, while the export volume index for the manufacture of basic metals increased by 6.9 percent to 187.3 points, both compared to the corresponding month of 2008.
At the same time, in July this year the import volume index for the mining of metal ores decreased by 18.52 percent to 100.7 points, while the import volume index for the manufacture of basic metals decreased by 29.12 percent to 162.1 points, both compared to the same month of the previous year.
