In May this year, Turkey's cold rolled coil (CRC) imports decreased by 10.6 percent month on month to 66,204 mt compared to the previous month and were down four percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports was $39.75 million, decreasing by 10.3 percent month on month and up 38.4 percent year on year.
In the January-May period of the current year, Turkey's CRC imports amounted to 319,970 mt, down two percent, while the value of these imports increased by 40.6 percent to $183.8 million, both year on year.
In the first five months, Russia ranked first among Turkey's CRC import sources, supplying 156,468 mt, up 16.94 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the given period, Turkey's CRC imports from Ukraine totaled 48,270 mt, falling by 25.64 percent compared to the same period of 2016.
