Turkey's chrome ore exports up 1.49 percent in Jan-Sept

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in the first nine months of the current year Turkey's chrome ore exports increased by 1.49 percent to 1.62 million metric tons, while the revenue from these exports amounted to $330.30 million, up 4.38 percent, both on year-on-year basis. In the third quarter of this year, Turkey's chrome ore exports decreased 9.78 percent compared to the second quarter but were up 6.1 percent year on year, amounting to 561,596 mt.

On the other hand, in September this year Turkey's chrome ore exports amounted to 155,988 metric tons, falling 14.73 percent compared to August, but up 31.73 percent compared to September 2012. The revenue generated by these exports totaled $31.55 million, decreasing by 13.70 percent month on month and increasing by 38.86 percent on year-on-year basis.

In the January-September period this year, Turkey's largest and almost only export destination for chrome ore was China, which received 1.50 million mt, up eight percent year on year. Sweden followed China in the period in question, importing 55,264 mt of chrome ore from Turkey, down 30.22 percent year on yea.
