Turkey's chrome ore exports double in October

In the first 10 months of the current year Turkey's chrome ore exports increased by 7.75 percent to 1.83 million metric tons, while the revenue from these exports amounted to $370.64 million, up 10.22 percent, both on year-on-year basis, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).

On the other hand, in October this year Turkey's chrome ore exports amounted to 204,726 metric tons, up 108.23 percent compared to September 2012 and up 31.25 percent compared to previous month. The revenue generated by these exports totaled $40.42 million, up 102.08 percent year on year and rising by 28.09 percent on month-on-month basis.

In the January-October period this year, Turkey's largest and almost only export destination for chrome ore was China, which received 1.70 million mt, up 14.96 percent year on year. Sweden followed China in the period in question, importing 55,264 mt of chrome ore from Turkey, down 30.71 percent year on year.
