Turkey’s building construction cost index down 4.28 percent in 2009

According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute, in the last quarter of 2009 Turkey's building construction cost index increased slightly by 0.07 percent quarter on quarter and was up 0.62 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. The index in question declined 4.28 percent year on year in 2009.

Meanwhile, in the last quarter of 2009, the labor index component of the construction cost index in Turkey increased by 0.75 percent, while another component of the construction cost index, the material index, decreased by 0.14 percent, both compared to the third quarter of this year. The year-on-year increase rates of these indices were 2.37 percent and 0.08 percent respectively.

The input portion of general construction materials in the building construction cost index was 64.5 percent, the share of installation materials was 14.2 percent, while the share of labor costs was 21.3 percent.
