Turkey’s billet exports up 15.7 percent in May over April

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in May this year Turkey's steel billet exports amounted to 154,066 metric tons, increasing by 15.7 percent compared to the previous month and down 45.75 percent compared to the same month of 2012.


The revenue generated by Turkey's steel billet exports in May totaled $86 million, increasing 13.8 percent compared to April and down 53 year on year. According to the data released by TUIK, in May the average price of Turkey's steel billet exports stood at $556/mt, falling compared to the average of $565/mt recorded in April and $618/mt in May 2012.

In the first five months of the year, Turkey's steel billet exports amounted to 1 million mt, rising 9.3 percent compared to the same period of 2012, with a value of $573 million, down two percent year on year.
