According to Turkey’s Official Gazette dated December 31, 2017, the country's import duty on rebar has been cancelled as of January 1, 2018. The 30 percent import duty on rebar was reduced to 10 percent in late July last year in response to the concerns of the construction industry regarding rising domestic rebar prices.

In the January-October period of 2017, Turkey’s rebar imports amounted to about 52,000 mt, while Turkey had imported 30,753 mt of rebar during 2016.

The product in question is classified under Harmonized Tariff Schedule subheadings 7214.20.00.00.11, 7214.20.00.00.12, 7214.20.00.00.13, 7214.20.00.00.14, 7214.20.00.00.15, 7214.20.00.00.16 and 7214.20.00.00.19.
