At the end of the week which finished on June 24, the thermal coal price in China's Bohai Bay Economic Rim area was RMB 843/mt ($130/mt), up RMB 2/mt ($0.3/mt) week on week, according to official data. The price in question has now been rising for 14 consecutive weeks.

Market analysts stated that thermal coal prices have maintained a continuing uptrend due to the upcoming peak season for coal consumption which will be driven by higher consumption of electricity.

However, coal prices at China's ports have registered a slower rising movement. Indeed, at Qinhuang port in China's Hebei Province, coal prices have remained neutral week on week.
