Thailand surcharges expiring end July

The import surcharges implementation, imposed by the Thai authorities are going to expire by the end of July, 2002. However the Thai authorities are going to review the situation and decide whether to prolong the duration of the surcharge, currently 25% on hot rolled and cold rolled steel, 5% on galvanized sheet and 15% on stainless steel. There is also another AD investigation going on against imports of cold rolled steel from Russia, Argentina and Kazakhstan. Market sources do expect a further AD investigation to be initiated against hot rolled imports as well.
