Tata Steel plans to increase its sponge iron capacity

According to recent market news, Tata Steel plans to increase its sponge iron capacity by installing two sponge iron kilns, each of which will have a daily production capacity of 500 tons. The officials of Tata Steel state that, sponge iron kilns produce more than the conventional blast furnaces, moreover they consume less coke. With the installation of these two kilns, the annual iron production of the company will increase to 360'000 tons from the current capacity of 270'000 tons.
