Tata Steel considers expanding its capacity
Major Indian steel producer
Tata Steel is in plans to increase its annual
production capacity by 1 million tons, subject to the board approval expected still within this month.
The company has already increased its
production by 200'000 tons over the past years figures and will be concluding the financial year at the end of this month with a total 3.85 million saleable steel
production.
The planned capacity increase is considered to be effected without serious capital increase, just by increasing the efficient use of the already restructured facilities at Jamshedpur works in Bihar state. Hot and cold rolling capacity as well as hot dip galvanising lines of the mill were expanded at that time.
Also included in the plans is to start colour
coated sheet and coil
production, however, the decision will only be concrete following the board meeting to be held towards the end of this month.
