The Egyptian Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade has announced that it has terminated its antidumping investigation into imports of cold rolled coil (CRC), galvanized steel and pre-painted steel from China and Turkey without imposing antidumping duties.
The decision was based on the following justifications:
- Existing Safeguard Measures: final safeguard measures have already been imposed on imports of the same product category under a separate safeguard investigation.
- Adequacy of Remedy: it was determined that the existing safeguard measures provide sufficient remedy for the injury sustained by the domestic industry.
- Public Interest: in consideration of the public interest, there is no further need to impose antidumping duties alongside the existing safeguard measures.
Despite the termination without duties, the ministry found that imports from China and Turkey were found to be entering the Egyptian market at dumped prices during the investigation period of July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024, and the domestic industry suffered material injury that coincided with the absolute and relative increase in these dumped imports.
The products currently fall under the codes 7209, 7210, 7211, 7212, 7225, and 7226.
