Hebei Province-based Chinese steelmaker Hebei Iron and Steel Group's subsidiary, Tangshan Iron and Steel has announced that its production of SS400 boron-added hot rolled steel plate (HRP) reached 34,380 mt in February, double the company's previous monthly record output for this product. Tangshan Steel's entire production of the given product is destined for export. The profit per metric ton of the product in question is RMB 400 higher than the profit for ordinary hot rolled plate and coil.
On July 15, 2010, China cancelled the export tax rebate for 48 steel products including hot rolled coil and hot rolled plate (HRP). As a result, Tangshan Steel has accelerated its elimination of outdated production capacity and has stepped up its production of high value-added products.
