Faced with the sharp decline of demand for low grade steel products in the international market, Hebei Province-based Chinese steelmaker Tangshan Steel Group has in recent times been focusing its main capacity on high-end steel production such as cold rolled hard plate, galvanized plate and galvalume steel. From the start of the last quarter of 2009 up to the present, Tangshan Steel has exported a total of over 124,000 mt of galvanized plates to the EU and US markets.

Amid the recession in the export markets which followed the global economy crisis, Tangshan Steel actively strengthened supervision on its production process, successfully resolving various technological problems, relating to evenness of coatings and spangle sizes. From the start of Q4 2009, the company has received many export orders for its cold rolled products, and the volume of orders for these products continues to increase.
