As stated by insiders at Jiangsu Province-based Chinese steel producer Taiyuan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd (Taiyuan Steel), in 2010 Taiyuan Steel produced 6,000 mt of stainless steel for application in nuclear power programs.
In 2006, Taiyuan Steel commenced the development of the products in question in order to help domestic customers to shake off their dependence on imported materials. Within the last few years, the company has successfully developed RCC-M Grade 2 and Grade 3 stainless steel plate and cold rolled wide stainless steel plate for nuclear power programs. The specifications of the products are of 1-125 mm in thickness, up to 3.45 m in width, and up to 13 m in length.
