Taiyuan Steel’s sales revenues exceed RMB 100 billion in 2009

Shanxi Province-based Chinese steelmaker Taiyuan Steel registered sales revenues of RMB 101.3 billion ($14.84 billion) in 2009, with a net profit of RMB 1 billion ($146.46 million), despite the impact of the global financial crisis.

During the past year, Taiyuan Steel produced 9.46 million mt of crude steel, up around 30 percent compared with the previous year. Meanwhile, its stainless steel output totaled 2.48 million mt, up 38 percent year on year. By these figures, Taiyuan Steel is still the largest stainless steel producer by volume in the world, being the only producer worldwide with a stainless steel output exceeding 2 million mt.
