Taiwan’s steel export value down slightly in 2012

According to the statistics released by the Taiwan Ministry of Finance in 2012, Taiwan's export value of iron and steel and articles made from iron and steel decreased by 1.6 percent compared to 2011, amounting to $17.7 billion. Meanwhile, in 2012 Taiwan's import value for the products in question decreased by 14 percent compared to 2011 to $12.3 billion.

In December, Taiwan's export value of iron and steel and articles made from iron and steel amounted to $1.4 billion, decreasing by 7.4 percent compared to the same month of 2011 but up 16.6 percent month on month. In the month in question, the country's import value for iron and steel and articles made from iron and steel decreased by 6.8 percent year on year to $945.6 million.
