Taiwan’s basic metal output index down 2.9 percent in May

Taiwan's manufacturing industrial production index in May this year fell by 0.4 percent year on year and was up 3.9 percent as compared to April, while in the first five months of the current year the country's manufacturing production decreased by 3.5 percent year on year, according to the provisional data released by Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA).

In May, production of the basic metal industry in Taiwan decreased 2.9 percent compared to the same month last year, and was down 2.26 percent from the previous month. On the other hand, in the first five months of this year, the country's output of basic metals fell by five percent year on year.

Meanwhile, in May Taiwan's fabricated metal product output rose by 3.3 percent month on month and was down 2.26 percent year on year. In the January-May period of this year, the country's fabricated metal product output fell by 4.32 percent compared to the same period last year.
