Taiwan billet imports decline almost 7 percent in first five months of 2018

According to preliminary custom data, Taiwan imported 1.42 million mt of billet in the first five months of 2018, down 6.6 percent compared to 1.52 million mt in the same period in 2017.

The billet imports were approximately 0.73 million mt from Japan (51 percent) followed by Russia at approximately 0.32 million mt (23 percent) with the remaining 0.37 million mt (26 percent) primarily from the UAE, Iran, China, India, and Vietnam.
