Sumitomo Metals finalizes expansion project at Osaka

 Japan-based metals production company Sumitomo has announced the completion of the production capacity expansion for railway wheels at its railway, automotive and machinery parts producing subsidiary Osaka Steel Works (Osaka).

As a  result of the project , Osaka's annual production capacity of subject products increased by 40,000 units up to 240,000 units. Sumitomo announced that they felt the need to make this expansion due to increasing customer demand for railways wheels especially in North America.

Sumitomo invests Yen 2 billion ($20.1 million)in the capacity expansion project. Commencement of increased production is planned for April 2008.
