Sumitomo Metal to increase galvanized sheet production

Japanese steel producer Sumitomo Metal Industries has recently announced that it is planning to invest Yen 25 billion ($243 million) to increase its galvanized steel sheet production by 30% in order to meet the demand from automobile producers. In line with the plan of the company, new production facilities at its works in Kashima and Ibaraki Prefecture will be installed in order to increase annual galvanized steel sheet production from 1.2 million tons to around 1.6 million tons.
