It has been reported by several sources that India-based Tata Steel, Chinese Baosteel and Russian steelmaker Evraz Group will participate in the tender to acquire a major stake in a new integrated steel mill to be built in Vietnam.

The project, with an estimated investment of about $3.4 billion, will have local enterprises as minority shareholders.

The Vietnamese government is expected to announce the winner next month. The new plant will have an annual capacity of five million metric tons of steel.

Responding to questions from SteelOrbis regarding the issue, an Evraz group spokesperson stated that the company does not comment on market rumors.
