Spain’s crude steel output in falls 2.6 percent in January-August

According to the data provided by the Spanish steel producers' association Unesid, Spain's crude steel output in August amounted to 1.2 million mt, decreasing by 1.6 percent compared to the same month of last year. According to Unesid, in July and August Spain's crude steel production indicated a reduction compared to the same months of last year, consolidating the tendency of the decrease recorded in the second quarter.
 
Meanwhile, in the first eight months of 2011, Spain's crude steel output fell by 2.6 percent over the same period last year and amounted to 10.9 million mt. Association's president Gonzalo Urquijo said that production results recorded until August show "a prudent attitude facing an uncertain end of year."
