In August this year South Korea's total car output surged by 13.6 percent year on year, totaling 320,438 units, according to a report released by the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association (KAMA). The report says that the increase was due to the steady growth of sales at home. This was the highest monthly production level achieved in 2011. Meanwhile, in the first eight months of 2011, South Korea's car production rose 9.3 percent year on year to 3,014,824 units.
