South Africa's base metal export value up 29% in H1

According to data released by the South African Revenue Service (SARS), in June of the current year the value of South Africa's exports of base metals and articles thereof totaled ZAR 11.05 billion ($1.03 billion), increasing by five percent from May. In the first half of this year, South Africa's export value of base metals and articles thereof increased by 28.9 percent year on year, reaching ZAR 65.6 billion ($6.12 billion).
 
In June this year, the country's imports of base metals and articles thereof amounted to ZAR 4.28 billion ($399.3 million), up 15.1 percent from May, while in the first six months South African imports of base metals and articles thereof increased by one percent year on year, amounting to ZAR 24.12 billion ($2.25 billion).
