SMS Meer to supply new pipe tester for LD pipe manufacturer in US

German plantmaker SMS Meer has announced that it has received an order from Germany-headquartered Berg Steel Pipe Corporation (BSPC) regarding the supply, installation and commissioning of a new hydrostatic pipe tester for longitudinally welded large-diameter pipes.
 
With the new tester to be installed at BSPC's works in Panama City, Florida, US where it mainly produces line pipes, the company aims to achieve a higher output.
 
According to SMS Meer's statement, the new hydrostatic pipe tester is designed for 12.4 m long large-diameter pipes with diameters of 24 to 62 inches (609.6 to 1574.8 mm) and wall thicknesses of 0.25 to 1.5 inches (6.35 to 38.1 mm).

Completion of the order is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2012.
