Siemens to upgrade equipment for Rautaruukki

Siemens Group Industrial Solutions and Services (I&S) has announced that it has received an order from Finnish steel producer Rautaruukki Oyj for the renewal of the drive systems in the company's hot rolling mill at its Raahe works. The objective of the modernization project in question is to improve the productivity and availability of the mill.

The project is scheduled to be finalized in November 2008; however the financial value of the contract has not been disclosed.

In its hot strip mill, Rautaruukki Oyj primarily manufactures wear-resistant steels and high strength structural steels, as well as steel strips, for the lifting, handling and transportation industries.
