Siemens to supply new drive to ArcelorMittal Galati

Siemens Industry Solutions Division has announced the receipt of an order to supply a new main drive for the finishing stand of ArcelorMittal's heavy plate mill in Galati, Romania.

The modernization of the finishing stand worth several million euros is intended to increase the rolling mill's productivity and also to lower its maintenance costs.

Siemens is to supply AlcelorMittal Galati with hydraulic cylinders and the associated control systems for its finishing stand and also will modernize the plate mill's process automation system.

The annual production capacity of the heavy plate mill in question is 2.3 million mt.

The project is scheduled for completion at the end of 2010.
