Siemens Group Industrial Solutions and Services (I&S) has announced that it has received an order from Germany-based stainless steel producer ThyssenKrupp Nirosta for the substitution of the current two stationary AOD (argon oxygen decarburization) vessels at the company's plant site in Krefeld, Germany with two exchangeable converters.

In a statement on the issue, Siemens said that the order will enable ThyssenKrupp Nirosta to maintain its stainless steel output on a long-term basis and simultaneously reduce the plant's operational and maintenance costs.

The project in question is planned to be completed in December 2008.
