Siemens issues further details on Leipajas Metalurgs' plans

Following the announcement by the Latvian steel producer Liepajas Metalurgs regarding its modernization plans ( please see Liepajas Metalurgs modernizes production facilities for further information) , the company's leading equipment supplier Siemens has issued further details regarding the plans in question.

According to Siemens' release, in addition to a new EAF, the Siemens-led consortium will install a new alloy system and a dedusting plant at Liepajas Metalurgs. Moreover, the new long rolling mill to be established at the Latvian steelmaker will annually produce 810,000 metric tons of billets and 400,000 metric tons of different long products.

 The new facilities will also allow the company to increase its annual crude steel production capacity from 540,000 metric tons to 810,000 metric tons.
