Venezuelan state-run steelmaker Sidor expects to produce about 3,500 mt of steel per day as it resumes billet and slab output, according to government-run newspaper Correo del Orinoco.

So far, Sidor has produced 600,000 mt of steel, but expects to reach 950,000 mt of steel production by the end of the year. The increase in production will be supported mainly by the country’s housing program, Gran Mision Vivienda Venezuela.

Media reports noted earlier this year that several Venezuelan industrial segments have been lacking supplies of raw materials from Sidor.
