Shanxi starts special operation to close blacklisted coal mines

On May 6, the government of China's Shanxi Province initiated a special operation to shut down blacklisted coal mines in the province. The blacklisted coal mines are be closed no later than May 25, though a few blacklisted mines have been granted permission to operate for the time being.

After the special operation, the Shanxi authorities aim to have 100 large-scale integrated coal mines in the province.
