China’s proven mineral reserve rate stands at 36 percent

According to the China Mineral Resources Report (2011) released by China's Ministry of Land and Resources, at present China's proven mineral reserves account for 36 percent of its total reserves, including both proven and potential reserves.

In particular, proven reserves of iron and bauxite in China account for 27 percent and 19 percent respectively of the total domestic reserve figures, while the corresponding percentages for petroleum and natural gas are 26 percent and 15 percent respectively.

China's Ministry of Land and Resources said that during China's 11th five-year plan period (2006-10) the country's total investment in geologic exploration reached RMB 370.8 billion ($58.8 billion), resulting in the discovery of 2,839 new mineral deposits.
