Shandong Steel completes hot run test for rebar production line in Xinjiang

Chinese steel producer Shandong Iron and Steel Co. has successfully completed a hot run test at the rebar production line of its Xinjiang-based Kashi iron and steel project, according to the state-owned Metallurgical Corporation of China Ltd (MCC). MCC Huatian Engineering Technology Co., Ltd (MCC Huatian), a subsidiary of MCC, is responsible for the construction of rolled steel production facilities for the project.
 
The Kashi iron and steel project, in which total investment is expected to reach RMB 7.3 billion ($1.2 billion), involves the construction of a 1,000 m³ blast furnace, a 100 mt converter and rolled steel production facilities. The project is expected to have an annual production of 3 million mt after completion. The rolled steel production facilities in question include a rebar production line and a wire rod production line, each with a designed annual production capacity of 500,000 mt.
