Shaanxi Province achieves coal capacity elimination target for 2016

China’s Shaanxi Province has announced that it has achieved its coal capacity elimination target for 2016, with 62 coal mines being shut down and 29.34 million mt of coal capacity being eliminated. Previously the province had targeted the closure of 42 coal mines and the elimination of 18.24 million mt of coal capacity in 2016.
 
Shaanxi Province stated that it planned to shut down 101 coal mines and eliminate more than 47 million mt of coal capacity during the 2016-20 period.
