Russian steelmaker Severstal, one of the world's leading steel and steel-related mining companies, has announced that its Cherepovets Steel Mill has completed capital maintenance of its converter No. 2. This project with an estimated total investment of RUB 650 million ($19.7 million) included replacement of the housing unit of the converter. It is also the first of three stages of a major ecological project at the Cherepovets steel mill.

The maintenance work was carried out by business units of Severstal Russian Steel, including Domnaremont, Severstal Promservice and Severstal Project. Installation of the catcher was overseen by Siemens VAI Metals Technologies, the Austria-based supplier of major process equipment.
