Severstal and ZapSib increase purchase of scrap

According to statistical data, Severstal, the biggest Russian steelmaker in terms of steel supply to the domestic market, and West Siberian Steel Works (ZapSib), part of Russian steel giant EvrazHolding, raised the purchases of scrap in the first four months of 2006. Thus, Severstal increased the volume of scrap purchase by 20.8 percent year on year in January-April 2006, while the increase in ZapSib's volume of scrap purchase constituted 76 percent during the same period.
