Serge Miller appointed CEO of ArcelorMittal Mines Canada

ArcelorMittal Monday announced the appointment of Serge Miller as President and Chief Executive Officer of ArcelorMittal Mines Canada. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Miller was Chief Operating Officer.

"Serge Miller has demonstrated strong leadership in several senior positions during his long career with the company," said Kleber Silva, Vice President and Head of ArcelorMittal Iron Ore Operations. "He continued to deliver excellent results last year, in the midst of one of the most challenging periods for the mining industry. With the rapid development of the global iron ore markets and the customer base, his sound knowledge of the company, its customers and the iron ore industry will serve him very well to become an outstanding President and Chief Executive Officer."

Serge Miller holds a Bachelor's degree in Applied Science from the University of Sherbrooke. He joined ArcelorMittal Mines Canada in 1977 (then Québec Cartier Mining) as an engineer-in-training. He subsequently held various positions of increasing responsibility until his appointment as General Manager, Port and Pellet Plant in 2003. In January 2008 he was promoted to Vice President, Pellet Plants, Ports and Railways, and in July 2008, he was appointed Vice President, Operations, overseeing all company operations including the Pellet Plant, Port, Railway and Mine. Since February 2009, he has headed ArcelorMittal Mines Canada's executive team as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.

Mr. Miller is a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (Québec Order of Engineers) and of the Board of Directors of the Mining Association of Canada and of the Québec Mining Association.
