Saudi Arabia-based pre-painted steel coil producer Universal Metal Coating Company Ltd (UNICOIL) has pointed out that, in spite of excess capacity of local production of pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) sheets, the Saudi Arabian market has recently witnessed huge imports from East Asia. UNICOIL stated that many of these imported products are found to be at variance with global and local specifications for PPGI sheets.

The company also announced that it has been accredited with both the Saudi Quality Mark "SASO" and the Emirates Quality Mark "ESMA" by the concerned standardization authorities for its products of pre-painted galvanized steel coils and sheets, marking the first time these quality marks have been accredited to a company operating in the pre-painted and galvanizing steel industry.

UNICOIL also stressed the importance of proper quality PPGI sheets since these products are usually used in applications involving direct human contact such as canned meat and vegetables, refrigerated warehouses, refrigerating trucks and school playgrounds.
