Saudi Arabian steel mill works on flats capacity expansion

Under the plans to double the capacity of flat production which is currently at 1 million tons per year, Saudi Arabian steel mill Hadeed held a tender for the expansion of DRI capacity at its flat products division. The tender will be concluded by early September. Hadeed intends to increase the DRI capacity from 800'000 tons to 1.6 million tons. There are also tenders to be released in July for the hot strip mil and the skin passing mill, paint coil coating line and galvanising line. Revised bids will be collected from SMS Demag, Danieli and VAI by mid August. These tenders are expected to be finalised in September as well.
