Speaking to shareholders at the company’s annual general meeting, Heinz Joerg Fuhrmann, CEO of Germany-based steelmaker Salzgitter said the company is not considering any merger or acquisitions for the time being as it sees no benefit from it.

“We currently do not see any such scenario that would improve our situation as compared to remaining independent,” said Fuhrmann. He added that, if they are suitable and offer the prospect of gaining advantages, there may be discussions on collaboration with other companies.

Earlier this year, Salzgitter rejected any partial or total merger rumors with ThyssenKrupp which was looking for partnerships, as SteelOrbis previously reported.
